Brake expanders
Manufacturer - Girling
Front expanders do not need a groove around the periphery of the external part of the housing as there is no rubber dust cover, it is shrouded by the end of the brake cable, the yoke end of the cable articulates via a pin to the expander cone (Girling description 'plunger' ) directly

Composite hub / brake drum unit - from chassis 545
By widening the brake drum to take 1.5" linings, the alloy hub has been thinned, resulting in the wheel stud anchoring nuts protruding above the face of the hub, needing relief holes to be machined into the brake drum.
Still uses the same bearings as the earlier type, stub axle strengthened "semi-tapered type"
As the backplate needs to be altered to suit the width of the shoes, presumably the cable changed to the later type too
Manufacturer - Girling

3rd type of front brakes - Girling 8" x 1.5" - from chassis #0545 onwards

Brake cable
Manufacturer - New Hudson (Girling) ??
The expander end of the cable passes through the middle of the expander cone ('plunger') and the cable stop is located in a recess in the cone
As the position of the expander on the backplate has changed, a new cable is needed (Girling GA/G913 and 913A )
